FORMA
Forma was a studio dedicated to exploring the possibilities surrounding the use of lighting in a meditation center. Strategic cuts on the massing of the project allowed for a very deliberate and controlled manipulation of sunrays at different times of day and year.
The initial form of the project was achieved through a study of how basic geometric shapes can interact with one another in three-dimensional space and create volume and depth.
An important aspect of this studio was the study of how the reflection of light on colored surfaces could impact the atmosphere of entire spaces. In the main meditation space, a pink tint was achieved in the ambient by making direct light impact a surface that was pink colored, the result of this interaction is a room that is seemingly devoid of color but uses the natural elements and a hidden wall to create mood lighting for meditation.
In the secondary renderings, I studied how different curvatures in the ceiling plates shaped spaces to create more scenic individual meditation rooms.
